Oh, boy… where do I start? Well, even though as a country, world, and society, we have faced many adversities between the world-wide pandemic known as COVID-19, the fallout from lockdowns and shutdowns, a highly controversial election cycle, and a general feeling of dread in the US, in particular…. I still had many blessings to be thankful for.
COVID-19 affected me in that because I started the year working in retail and the effects on the retail sector. Kohl’s shut down for a number of months (putting me on furlough) and Fry’s already having financial issues and using the pandemic as a vessel to put me on furlough for which I never returned. I was one of those people whom actually made more sitting at home on furlough than I did working. But that didn’t stop me from pursuing something better. That money was nice but it wasn’t meant to last, it wasn’t permanent. It wasn’t meant to be.
I used the time and money to study my Network+ and obtain it. I used the time and money to renew my A+ and I did. I used that time and money to keep looking for a new job. That felt like a bleak thing in a time where many businesses were shutting down and people out of work. Yet, my hard work paid off and I found a new job and was able to be happy with working again.
It was a trying year for sure. But there were so many things that were blessings in a year of turmoil. I wish to celebrate these rather than focus on the bad things.
* I got a new job!
* My wife, Dana, got a promotion (it was given to her, but it didn’t technically start until 2021)
* My niece, Amber, announced that she was pregnant (and it’s a boy!)
* My niece, Jessica, got engaged
* My wife and I got new to us Jeeps. We are a Jeep family now.
* I renewed my A+ and got my Network+
* I re-arranged my office hopefully for the last time
* I started a YouTube channel and quickly abandoned it
* Had really excellent Christmases
I guess I could keep listing things and again, I could list bad things but I choose not to.
So, yeah, 2020 was rough out in the world. The pandemic really made the year very difficult and it continues to make things difficult. Probably will be that way for the foreseeable future. But, we have decided to make the best of it. There really isn’t much we can do to change the pandemic but we can do out part in prevention and that’s all there is to say about that.
2020 was a pretty good year in our lives and our family’s lives. There were ups and downs, of course. Some bad things, but mostly good things. In case you don’t follow my music, it was a pretty good year for that. Another thing I am happy about.
Looking forward to a good 2021 on a personal level. I am not going to get into a world level, a have a whole blog devoted to that. Let’s end this on a high note…. Welcome, 2021.
