There were good times and there were bad times, and now it’s gone. I did have some good memories working at Fry’s, but it was supposed to be a year stop-gap until I got on my feet but it turned out to be 3+ years and so much experience building gaming rigs, repairing gaming rigs, troubleshooting Windows 10 issues, and the occasional good time.
Yesterday, this was on Fry’s Homepage…
I feel bad for all of the friends that I still had working there. Times were rough if you have been in one since before the pandemic became a thing last year… in fact, it was rough before the end of the year. PC parts started drying up. Home theater components started drying up. And even having a computer or laptop to sell was almost impossible. It is very sad because I remember when Fry’s was huge. I am not entirely convinced that online competition killed Fry’s. Some of it was mismanagement, some of it was the former exec that extorted money from the company. But when you can’t pay your vendors, you are doomed to fail (see Sports Authority, another place I worked. Same issue. Can’t pay vendors…).
I hope that everybody can find something new. Get a fresh start. Fry’s was a great place for a long time, but it’s time for all of us to have moved on…
