Well, if you are here, then you probably want to know my current health situation. Then I know you care. Of course, I have no way to know who has stopped by. Sigh.
Anyway, here’s the lowdown…
On September 6, I had my yearly physical. I finally got to go back to the doctor’s office that I was going to before my employer changed to Kaiser Permanente (which I HATE)… ok, back to the visit… this doctor (Dr. Shah) actually sat down and listened to my concerns before starting the physical. Then the physical started. She examined me for the things that were concerning me and all appeared fine. The results of the blood tests came back last week.
There are only 3 things that stood out:
1.) My cholesterol is borderline-high. Right now, it stands at 207. The break down results in the LDL is a bit high but the HDL was normal. The doctor wants to put me on medication, but I don’t want to. Also, my triglycerides were a bit high as well. Kate has helped me figure a way that will lower my cholesterol without the need for prescription medication…thanks, Kate. I will be buying the stuff this weekend.
2.) I have an elevated liver enzyme level. I have had this since I started having regular physicals. So, I have to get yearly ultrasounds on my abdomen.
3.) My blood sugar (glucose) was very normal. This is good news due the diabetes that tends to run in my mom’s side of the family…
So, today, I went for my ultrasound. There are three things that have been found in past ultrasounds:
1.) A cyst in my left kidney which will only be an issue if it begins to hurt. So far, nothing.
2.) A “fatty” liver. In other words, I am so fat that my liver is fat. This is most likely the reason for my elevated liver enzyme levels.
3.) A polyp on my gallbladder. All I know about this is… if it gets a certain size, I will have to have surgery to get it removed. Won’t that be a hoot…
When I get the results of this year’s ultrasound, I will post a new blog post.
Thank you to whomever read this and cares about me and maybe even my health…
