This was pretty much straight forward. As about straight forward as it can get.
The guts of the Micro PC
The motherboard fully exposed.
The old broken motherboard on the left, the new on the right.
The new motherboard installed in the case. The thermal paste is kind of a mess because the paste Dell sent was terrible, but it’s what I had. I had to spread it and that didn’t really spread very well. Luckily, these barely go under load to even overheat.
Here it is fully assembled again. My least favorite part is re-attaching the antenna leads on the wifi card. So tiny.
The new motherboard doesn’t know the Dell Service Tag, so upon boot, the BIOS asks for the Service Tag.
Confirm your choices and watch it boot into Windows. Done.
Not like taking a tower PC apart especially gamer systems with many more parts to remove. I can do this type of work in my sleep.
I’m glad I could share this with you. Until the next post, good-bye.
