The Threadripper certainly had that. I wanted to post this. I only got to do 3 Threadripper builds. It is not a mainstream CPU and really doesn\u2019t hep gaming at all and most builds were gaming rigs. But, without further adieu, here we go\u2026<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mmolenda.com\/techparadise\/wp-content\/uploads\/Buid23_004-2021-04-12-12-13-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"Buid23_004-2021-04-12-12-13-rotated.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Figure 1.<\/strong> Unique Outer Packing. That is hard styrofoam .<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mmolenda.com\/techparadise\/wp-content\/uploads\/Buid23_005-2021-04-12-12-13-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"Buid23_005-2021-04-12-12-13-rotated.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Figure 2.<\/strong> Taking the top half off reminds me of pulling the top of Darth Vader\u2019s helmet off. \u201cNothing can stop that now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mmolenda.com\/techparadise\/wp-content\/uploads\/Buid23_006-2021-04-12-12-13-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"Buid23_006-2021-04-12-12-13-rotated.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Figure 3.<\/strong> I removed the middle CPU section from the outer styrofoam . Here you have some documentation.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mmolenda.com\/techparadise\/wp-content\/uploads\/Buid23_007-2021-04-12-12-13-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"Buid23_007-2021-04-12-12-13-rotated.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Figure 4.<\/strong> It comes with it\u2019s own Hex screwdriver as the socket has them as part of installation. I will show in a follow-up blog post.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mmolenda.com\/techparadise\/wp-content\/uploads\/Buid23_008-2021-04-12-12-13-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"Buid23_008-2021-04-12-12-13-rotated.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Figure 5.<\/strong> The middle part of the packaging\u2026. CPU is right inside.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mmolenda.com\/techparadise\/wp-content\/uploads\/Buid23_009-2021-04-12-12-13.jpg\" alt=\"Buid23_009-2021-04-12-12-13.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Figure 6.<\/strong> Removed the CPU from it\u2019s packaging. Well, sort of. There is one more step left.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mmolenda.com\/techparadise\/wp-content\/uploads\/Buid23_0010-2021-04-12-12-13.jpg\" alt=\"Buid23_0010-2021-04-12-12-13.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Figure 7.<\/strong> Finally\u2026 the CPU is the IPS but the plastic frame around it.<\/p>\n<p>This was such a big deal since I rarely ran across them in my time at Fry\u2019s. Later generations of Threadripper introduced different packaging, but Fry\u2019s never had this so I was unable to unbox any Threadrippers outside of this generation.<\/p>\n<p>Conclusion:<br \/>\nHopefully, you enjoyed this as much as I did.
