I haven\u2019t really bought a PC since prior to 2006 when I bought my first Mac. I previously thought it was a MacBook, but it was a MacMini. Only after the transition to Intel processors<\/a> from the PowerPC line of processors because Intel was more powerful per watt.<\/p>\n

\nHere is that 2006 Mac mini in all of its glory\u2026 The mini and the Dell Dimension that was connected the same surge protector got shocked. The HDD in the Dell died and the logic board in the mini died. Apple charged way more than it should have for the repair, so I just kept it and took it apart\u2026<\/p>\n

\nThis is my current Mac, the 2019 Core i9-9900k model. It has been moved several times, but this was it right after the unboxing. Kinda looks similar to older models, eh?<\/p>\n

I have had a long line of Mac Desktops over the years because I sell one for a bunch of cash and then use that towards the new one. Apple Macs keep a good resale value.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s a lot of selling and trading. I never had an issue selling a Mac, even the 2012 which I damaged. I plan to keep this iMac for a couple more years. Eventually, Apple will stop making macOS for Intel-based Macs and then I will have to either move to Apple Silicon or just use it without new OS updates until it dies.<\/p>\n

My first laptop was a 2006 MacBook (non-pro). It is the first consumer MacBooks with Intel CPUs. This had a CoreDuo CPU. Not even a Core 2 Duo. I really like macOS better than Windows. Of course, the right you can see my DOS\/Windows game collection\u2026. If only those were worth $$$, but all are open and used.<\/p>\n

\nI still have it, but it is in pieces. I tried to repair it, but the fix wasn\u2019t the correct one. I think the logic board is dead. It may be time for the recycler\u2026.<\/p>\n

\nThis is my current MacBook Pro. This is a mid-2018 model, mid-tier model with 4 TB3 ports rather than 2 on the lower-end models\u2026 The keyboard is not the greatest, but I type on it just fine. It runs everything fine, but I don\u2019t really do anything intensive on it, so I thought about selling it for an older MacBook Pro and keeping the profits towards a gaming PC laptop\u2026<\/p>\n

Like Mac Desktops, I have had a long line of Mac laptops. Always wheeling and dealing, so I never paid full price out of pocket because I used the money from the sale of the previous machine to pay part of the new one. Kinda like trading in a car, but I have to sell the Macs.<\/p>\n

So this is the great thing about Macs\u2026 I always am able to sell my current Mac for good money and use that money to buy a new Mac. What might hurt that strategy is the Apple Silicon Macs that might diminish the resale value of the Intel Macs, so I may just have to hold on to Intel Macs until there are no more\u2026<\/p>\n
