I went to remove my air filter to clean it.  I have a K&amp;N high performance air filter and it only needs to be replaced at something like 1,000,000 miles but does need to be cleaned at 100,000.  Well, my car is 7 years old with only 55,000 miles on it.  I noticed my gas mileage had dipped in recent months.  I finally had the time to clean it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The outcome of that was that I ended up breaking a &#8220;T-Junction&#8221;.  This particular part is necessary (as they all are&#8230;) for cooling the turbo.  The bottom section of the part goes to the turbo.  The T-Junction is where it connects to the coolant reservoir (on the left)..   This part is brittle and there are many forum posts where these broke without outside force. The section that is broken is towards the bottom of this shot.  The hose is resting on the air filter housing.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>So, I ordered a new part.  The part came with all new hoses attached to a new T-Junction.  Probably a good thing.  Removal of just the T-Junction would be more difficult that it&#8217;s worth. Taping it did not work&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, I finally figured out a fix to my broken vacuum line. Everything thing is fixed.  I took it on a small ride and there was no loss of power.  The rubber tubing was so tight to get it on, I doubt the vacuum of this line will be enough to blow the tubing off and render the car (basically) powerless..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, yay me!  I can fix things.
