Honeymoon Day 3 – Fun Day at Sea
Honeymoon Day 2 – Departure Day
Honeymoon Day 1 – Arrival in Tampa
A Google Rant – Very tired of them.
Where do I begin?
Google is everywhere. You can’t escape Google. Google is in your pocket (your smartphone), your desktop computer, your laptop computer, your tablets (iPad, JooJoo, etc), and coming soon… your TV. Yes, if it is electronic and sends/receives data, chances are Google is there. Google is the new Microsoft. One core business (Search + Google Sense ads) and then reaching into many tangent businesses just to promote their real core business: selling ads. That is the majority of their revenue stream. An advertiser… how noble.
In your pocket
Even if you don’t use a Google Android-based smartphone, the search engine is the default for most of the others: Palm webOS, Apple iPhoneOS, Nokia, RIM BlackberryOS… (can’t image that it would be the default on MS Windows Mobile phones, though.) Can’t really escape Google on your phone. Though, at least on the iPhoneOS, Yahoo! can be used as the default search engine (as I have done).
Your desktop computer/laptop
Google Search is the normal default for most modern browsers: Firefox, Camino, Safari, Chrome, and probably Opera. I haven’t used Opera in so very long… Internet Explorer is the only major browser to not have Google as the default since Microsoft does run it’s own search engine: Bing. In an effort to stay away from Google, I have replaced it with Bing as my default search engine on the desktop/laptop in all of my browsers.
Your tablet
Since most tables run a mobile operating system, this is similar to “in your pocket.” Again, I have changed my default search engine in mobile Safari to Yahoo! (Google and Safari are the only built-in options).
Your Tv (coming soon)
Trying to bring internet streaming video to TV’s and set-top boxes, Google now has “Google TV.” There are numerous TV’s that do this already… including tv’s with Yahoo! widgets, Netflix streaming, etc. Google is going to bring a browser and it’s advertising platform to your tv, possibly integrating into a DVR you already own and pay for service.
Google knows no bounds. Microsoft’s vision: “We don’t want a computer in every home, we want a Microsoft computer in every home.” Well, now, it seems that Google has upped the antie…
Besides search…
Google has YouTube, online office applications, maps, mail, photo galleries, calendar, blogging platform, a browser, 2 mobile OSes… oh, I know I am leaving out half of them. Nobody can really keep up with everything they do. This is a problem that Microsoft has, they are far too diverse for their own good. Products are all over the place. Some excellent. Some not-so-good. Microsoft used to be Apple’s biggest competitor and rival, but now both of them have to fight a common enemy: Google. I, for one, can’t wait to see Google go down in flames… burn, Google, burn.
